CSA Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Grocery Delivery (often called a CSA)?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, a model for purchasing local food where the customer purchases a “share” of the harvest and receives a weekly basket of seasonal items in return for their investment.

The Pickup partners with over 40 local farmers and food producers in the greater Skowhegan area to bring you the very best in seasonal foods. You get a much broader selection than you’re likely to find at your local farmers market. In addition to fruits and vegetables, we offer eggs, butter, grass-fed meat, fresh bread, and specialty-food items like coffee, honey, maple syrup, and much more. And by carefully planning and coordinating with our farmers and producers, we’re able to provide you with a diverse basket of items all year-round.

What’s in a typical basket?

You may be wondering what’s in a typical basket. The Pickup CSA baskets vary each week. We strive to bring you the best seasonal products available, making sure that you’re never overloaded with any one item. Here are some samples of what you might get in a typical Garden Share basket in different months.
